Keep your history safe

Back up everything Homeling knows about you to your own iCloud, encrypted, every night.

The Keep my history safe choice at the end of Homeling's setup, with a Get started button and a Keep my history safe and get started button.
Homeling offers backup when you set it up. It stays off unless you choose it.

Turn it on

  1. Choose it. At the end of setup, click “Keep my history safe & get started”. Or turn on “Keep my history safe” in Settings → Backup at any time. Your Mac needs to be signed in to iCloud.
  2. That's it. Every night, while your Mac is on power and idle, Homeling saves a backup to iCloud Drive, in a folder called Homeling Backup. Click Back Up Now whenever you like. It keeps the last seven.
  3. On a new Mac, sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Keychain on, and install Homeling. While setting up, it finds your latest backup and offers to bring your history back.
Homeling's Backup settings: the last backup and its size, three backups kept in iCloud Drive, a Back Up Now button, and the backups you can restore.
Settings → Backup: your latest backup and the ones kept in iCloud Drive.

What's in a backup

Your conversations, the people Homeling knows, its memories, your settings, the activity log, your closet photos and files from chat. The AI models aren't included, because they download again, and neither are single files over 512 MB.

Who can open it

Each backup is encrypted on your Mac before it's saved. The key is kept in your iCloud Keychain, so only you can open your backups. Homeling never sees the key, and nothing is sent to us.
